I think it's generally true that Schaefer whiffed the vintage a bit, and while this is definitely a nice wine, it definitely doesn't live up to my hypothetical excitement of the confluence of Schaefer, 2001, and auction. Slightly browning with a creamy peach note; this doesn't have quite the acid-driven freshness that I would have expected. Somewhat sedate and rounded.
