flawed

Friday, January 6, 2023 - Exactly as the last bottle from one year ago, this (LB20) was fizzy, sour and had a rubber flavor. Montesecondo has been a big disappointment for me.

1/20/2023 4:50:00 PM - Hello @BrettH. I did as you suggested and exchanged emails with the owner and winemaker. He's a very thorough and pleasant man who was very disappointed in my experience. He offered to replace the two bottles. He explained that the wine is meant for drinking young and is made with minimal interventions; that the fizz is not a second fermentation but is residual CO2 that he leaves deliberately because it adds freshness and helps protect the wine; that decanting usually clears his wines of any off aromas; and that he doesn't know how to explain the burned rubber smell without himself smelling the wine. He said that it is possible that the wines may have suffered in the storage or transportation chain. So, it was a pleasant experience for me, and it's a shame I had the experience I did with those two bottles. I'm looking forward to trying his '17 CC, which I have in the cellar.
