Sunday, January 8, 2023 - Decanted 3-4 hours. Very tight out of the bottle. Needs air. Dark garnet to purple. Nose of blackberry and dense dark cherry. Some spices and minerals. Dark and brooding but opened up considerably with air. Similar palate with wonderful fruit and complex herbs, spices, minerals, tar. Still decently tannic but more gentle. I’d say that after 20 years this is at its peak but it certainly still has more years of life. Terrific wine. Served with dried mushroom risotto. Great pairing.
