Thursday, January 19, 2023 - Dark ruby, almost purple in the glass.
Nose is simple yet enticing; jammy blackberries, blackcurrants, and vanilla.
Palate is medium-full bodied with ripe black fruits and some oak followed by round, fine tannins. Acidity is adequate enough to keep the wine from falling a bit flat. Finish is medium in length with the overtones of black fruit sounding throughout. Wine seems to be a touch restrained, holding back what could've been more jamminess.
It is a simple wine, and it shows off the ripeness of the grapes in Paso Robles and CA's Central Coast's hotter climate. However, the wine does convey a sense of knowing what it does best, and it does a good job delivering the jammy fruit with a decent enough structure while remaining dry.
A generous 89 points from me.
