Monday, August 7, 2023 - Tannat yields a sturdy and robust red wine that pairs beautifully with meat and fatty dishes. On opening this bottle was not very subtle with hidden facets or dimensions but it was flavorful, bright, and to be honest it overpowered even the lean BBQ ribs we had.
24 hours of air made a difference and moderated the wine in an appealing way. The tannins softened, the earthy, smokey suggestiveness of the day before diminished and gave way to black cherry fruit, dried roses, and subtler notes of bay/rosemary/juniper. Will give the next bottle another 18 months or so. 88-91
