Sunday, December 3, 2023 - Originally I felt there were accents of sweetness, which made me think.. Is this a NW? American? When corrected that it was an OW, I immediately went down the path of Bordeaux LB, perhaps 2013. Great structure, should have led me to a hotter year, its in fact a 2015.

73% Cab and 27% Merlot, aged 14 months in barrels, 50% new.

Impressive nose which kept developing, its a truly expressive nose of currants, blackfruit and raspberries as well as spices. Then tobacco and graphite notes start to develop too.

Very deep garnet and nearly opaque in colour, the palate is medium-bodied with lively but balance acidity. Tannins grippy and chewy, and the finish is medium-length at this stage. Oak is very nicely integrated, and acidity is medium+.

This is still a baby, mainly primary notes with so much development over the next 5-10 years.

The fortunes and quality of Duhart Milon continued declining until the Rothschild family purchased the property in 1962. Château Duhart-Milon is the only Fourth Growth property in the Pauillac AOC.

It is located a mere 7-minute drive away from Château Lafite Rothschild, and the two are considered sister properties with the same winemaking team. Like Lafite, the estate is owned by part of the portfolio of Domains de Barons de Rothschild.

Chateau Duhart Milon remains one of the few 1855 Classified Growth estates without an actual chateau. In fact, all you find here are the cellars, vatting rooms, and barrel-aging cellars.

Thanks to brother TC for sharing this with AK, ET and myself at Jalan Bangkung. Perfect with a dinner of Wagyu Tomahawk and Wagyu-fat Char Kuay Teow noodles.
