3 hour decant. Left some sediment in the bottle. Screw top. Colour still deep crimson, mulberry and blackberry like with some browning around the edges the only sign of any age.

The nose is beautiful. Eucalyptus, creek bed flint and mulberry. A hint of mint.

The palate is seamless. Bea says smooth. The famous wendouree tannins from aged vines over 100 years have softened to match the still large blackberry and dark fruit tones.

A perfect match for roast lamb imo which we are having with roast spuds, carrots and peas and gravy.

Still lots of fruit but with plenty of tannin to make the finish tea like dry … so no sweet fruit bomb here. Lovely chocolate minty flavours remind me of a chocolate filled with liqueur.

Yum yum yum.

Ten years or more left. Still have 3 or 4 more left. Tannins will soften even more, palate will slowly turn more leathery but always show that Clare eucalyptus and mint.
