Magnificent! 3 hour decant. Left some sediment in the bottle. Screw top. Colour still deep crimson, mulberry and blackberry like with some browning around the edges the only sign of any age.
The nose is beautiful. Eucalyptus, creek bed flint and mulberry. A hint of mint.
The palate is seamless. Bea says smooth. The famous wendouree tannins from aged vines over 100 years have softened to match the still large blackberry and dark fruit tones.
A perfect match for roast lamb imo which we are having with roast spuds, carrots and peas and gravy.
Still lots of fruit but with plenty of tannin to make the finish tea like dry … so no sweet fruit bomb here. Lovely chocolate minty flavours remind me of a chocolate filled with liqueur.
Yum yum yum.
Ten years or more left. Still have 3 or 4 more left. Tannins will soften even more, palate will slowly turn more leathery but always show that Clare eucalyptus and mint.

Fantastic wine, and so far the best of the 2013s I've tried. The wine is long, finish immaculate. Ridiculous balance of fine tannins, fruit and alcohol. Probably will revisit another one in 3 years. It is drinking well now, but like some of the best vintages of this wine will reward after about 15 years.

Decanted early in the day, then a double decant prior to service. A fair of sediment. Medium to full bodied. Beautifully ripe blackcurrants, jubey/pastille like, nuances of eucalypt, graphite, violets, menthol, dried herbs, all wrapped up nicely with subtle french oak tones. Bright acidity and a bit of tannic grip, on a long finish. Lovely stuff.

A blend of Cab Sauv 50% and Malbec from 1920 Eastern and 1989 Western plantings. 13.8% alc. Don't know why I opened this, but there you go. Dense, ripe, succulent, deep blackcurrant fruits. It's medium/full bodied, thick, chewy and dense. But somehow also deft. There's an X factor here that keeps you coming back for another sip. It's obviously just a baby. GOK how long it will last.
