Sunday, March 24, 2024 - 50/50 Granache/Syrah
This Gigondas comes from a UNESCO heritage site known as the Montmirail hill, that is unlike any other vineyard on Earth. The soils are white granite rocks, and produce intense, complex reds. Domaine Brusset are one of the largest owners of this incredible vineyard. The poor, rocky soils create wines of incredible intensity and power. Yes, this wine is full of power with a crazy mix( like it or not). Flavors of red and black fruits, mint, minerals, licorice ( too much for me), herbs, spice, vanilla and who knows what else.
The smell is just wonderful with the harmony of blueberries and blackberries. Minerals, earth, smoke, licorice ( again!? 🙄).
Very long finish with great balance between sweet notes, herbs and spices.
Perfect acidity and tannins.
Southern Rhone got 92 points according to the WA Vintage Guide.
Outstanding. Early maturing and accessible
