Thursday, June 22, 2023 - Definitely get a few bottles of this if you can as it is well worth the price. I had not heard anything good about 18 Piemonte, but a trusted wine salesman up in Boston convinced me to buy a bottle and it was a great move. Evidently, Oddero blended in many of there single Vineyard bottlings, and you can really tell. I didn't get the red fruit people are describing. The first bottle (I went back and bought a few more) was a dark brooding Barolo with black fruits like black cherry and fig, licorice, tar, gravel, and some balsamic notes. It was thick and chewy with lush fruit that (in the first bottle) covered up the tannins and made for an extremely easy and beautiful drink. I did however notice that the next few bottles I drank over the next couple months seem to be shutting down a bit, and the tannins are a bit more noticeable. I will sit on my last couple bottles until they turn 9 or 10. This is an incredible buy and I highly recommend to any Barolo drinker.
