Friday, May 3, 2024 - Similar in a way to 2019 but more intense with a fuller body and perhaps a touch racier in acidity. Superb aromatic nose of flowers, green apples, honey, lemon, a slight pungent cheese rind that comes forth with time and topping off the glass. With food and time, more citrus pith (lemon / grapefruit), stonefruit pit, and a vegetal aromatic bitterness that comes forth. The honey profile doesn't last long. Still very vibrant and fresh and I would not have guessed this had 4 years of bottle age. Enjoy now if you want the freshness, and cellar it longer if you want a bit more complexity and balance. If anything the 2022 is somewhat close to this, but 2020 has notable pronounced acidity in comparison. Like someone already said, Dauvissat mastered the 2020 vintage if using this Chablis village as a baseline. I can't wait to experience what the 1er cru 2020s will be like when they are ready.
