Friday, October 4, 2013 - 2013 Port Harvest Tour; 9/27/2013-10/6/2013 (Porto, Portugal): Bottled in 2013. This is really a "century blend." The wines come from very old stocks - wines over 100 years old make up the backbone for this wine. Brick red in color, which is extremely surprising for an old 40 Year Old Tawny. Wood, hints of mocha, and leather on the nose. Crazy concentration with a rich, intense approach. Orange flavors on the approach give way to a beautiful mid-palate of cinnamon, spices, and espresso. The long finish introduces caramel and hints of butterscotch to the mélange.
