Sunday, March 31, 2024 - Drunk for lunch with roast beef sirloin. 14%. Dark opaque bright ruby. Intense nose dark fruits with blackberry, mulberry, black cherry and plum. The palate was slightly more muted than the nose and had some earthiness and spiciness as well. Nice length and balance with some tannin still evident. Overall the wine had a lightness to it which made it seem younger than its 14 years. Perhaps not quite the evolution to make it a really ‘great’ bottle but still wonderful, with plenty of time ahead of it.
