Friday, May 10, 2024 - Decanted for 4 hours and drank from the 1st hour.

Nose: Strong vanilla notes with plums, blackcurrent and violets. With time in the decanter leather and earth also appeared together with red fruits and a high toned acetate elements.

Palate. On first taste the oak somewhat overwhelmed the fruit. But the fruit quality was really high with an initial wave of black fruits followed by crisper red fruits as the ample acidity.
After 4 hours the vanilla had toned down and the fruits mellowed into more of the red fruit spectrum together with more tertiary leather and earth overtones. At the 3-4 hour mark while the complexity grew the fruit quality became slightly muddied.

A really nice wine that I think I caught at the wrong times. I had the first couple of glasses at the one hour mark and the fruit quality was high but the oak was a little too prominent. By the four hour mark the complexity was there but the fruit definition was slightly lacking.

I’d drinking now based on this bottle I would decant for a couple of hours.
