Saturday, May 11, 2024 - This blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Carménère was tasted from a bottle that had been purchased upon release and pristinely cellared. Decanted off of its substantial sediment and serially sampled over five hours, it is medium-to-deep garnet in color and serves up a bouquet of black fruits, dark chocolate, cigar tobacco, graphite, black tea, baking spices and aged leather. Medium-to-full-bodied, low in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic (13%) and with silky residual tannins, it delivers flavors congruent with the aromas. Layered and dense on the mid-palate, it concludes with a lengthy finish. Fully mature and clearly on plateau, this is an absolute joy to drink. Be sure to decant it off of its sediment and give it an hour or more in carafe. Drink now-2030.
