Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - There are good and bad things about opening this bottle. The bad is that there was serious seepage trough the cork, with some stuff accumulated below the capsule. It actually smelled corked and I was pretty pissed. But after 0.5 hours in the decanter corkiness almost completely disappeared and the wine showed nice nose of cherries and citrus with spice component. On the palate this was medium bodied, clearly young with cherries, lemon, minerals, piercing acidity and some spiciness. Good match with fried/sauteed pork chops. Good finish. Very nice wine especially at the Bourgogne level. This is clearly way too young but I'm glad it was opened now, otherwise it would be completely corked. It held up nicely on the second night, no "corked" signs at all. Very respectable wine. Even with the cork flaw issues this deserves 88-89 pts.
