Very dark garnet. Initialy closed, but opened up rather fast after being decanted, and reached its peak after 3 hours. Gorgeous and extremely complex nose with licorice, creme de cassis, cedar, spices and hints of earthy aromas. Full-bodied, ultra-soft and smooth with textbook velvety tannins, opulent fruit and moderate, yet adequate acidity. Very long finish. A beauty. At its peak now, will drink well for another 10 years. This is supposedly a poor Napa vintage, but this wine is great at this stage.
