Wednesday, October 28, 2009 - Vintage Port Tasting with Dominic Symington of Symington Family Estates (Martin Wine Cellar, Metairie, LA): Dense, deep, dark, and brooding, yet with a bit of mineral on the nose, this great vintage port brings great floral character, with violets, lavendar, plum, intense white pepper on the backdrop, and great black cherry aromas. The palate is richer, hotter, very concentrated, with a touch of bourbon. It is young, with surprisingly good smooth tannins on its long long finish. Will surely shine even brighter in its promising future.
