Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - Second bottle from this case. Not decanted, but opens up quite quickly. Lovely deep ruby colour: still quite dark, not showing much maturity. Good nose of black fruit and cedar, some smoky notes. Surprisingly forward and intense on the nose. The same cassis and black fruit flavours follow on the palate, which is has by now integrated the oak notes. A good combination of elegance and intensity on the palate - not a blockbuster but certainly doesn't lack stuffing. Well judged. Good finish and length. Very "more-ish". Delicious. (All this was re-confirmed on a re-taste 2 days later, when it definitely outperformed the 2001 Langoa Barton tasted alongside.)
