91 Points

Saturday, January 16, 2010 - Domaine bottling. Purchased a couple of days ago on closeout for $30. Decanted briefly to remove any chunky sediment, then returned to bottle for travel. Dominant sour cherry note on opening. Pulled the cork upon arrival and left open over the course of the evening. Ruby color, but cloudy due to the fine sediment having been stirred up on purchase. Cherry aromas turn less sour, with a gun powder and meat note appearing. Bright acidity on the palate, with flavors of cherry, earth, warm spices and a subtle minerally quality. A nice pairing with the boeuf bourguignon. Absolutely nothing "green" in this bottle, but not a 95-point wine either. 89-92 pts, and priced right on closeout.
