Monday, October 18, 2004 - I've had many Cadence wines, and I have to say that this is probably my least favorite so far. That said, however, it is nevertheless an enjoyable wine. It shows strong merlot characteristics in it's color and nose, and reveals a hint of greenness and astringency on the palate which might be due to the cab franc component. Lush dark fruit on the nose and palate, which persist on the finish. A hint of shoe polish, coffee, and bitter chocolate as well. The tannins were a bit dry and intrusive, growing more so on the finish, which makes me wonder how long this will age. I would definitely recommend decanting to remove the astonishly heavy, chunky sediment this wine threw.
