It shows strong merlot characteristics in it's color and nose, and reveals a hint of greenness and astringency on the palate which might be due to the cab franc component. Lush dark fruit on the nose and palate, which persist on the finish. A hint of shoe polish, coffee, and bitter chocolate as well. The tannins were a bit dry and intrusive, growing more so on the finish, which makes me wonder how long this will age. I would definitely recommend decanting to remove the astonishly heavy, chunky sediment this wine threw.
