Sunday, August 14, 2011 - Colour is still pale yellow, with a hint of gold. Nose was very tight initially, opened up slightly after decanting. Main impressions flint, floral, but also malolactic (kefir). Taste was not as impressive as I remembered. By no means too old, perhaps just a difficult phase in its life. Butter feel initially, replaced by flint and minerality in the mid-palette to end in a fairly long finish with citrus, melon and again flint. I'm not quite sure about this wine, perhaps my palette has evolved, perhaps it is the stage in maturity or perhaps not the best bottle. Hope the remaining 5 bottles prove me wrong in my assessment.
