2004 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Friday, August 19, 2011 - Medium strawberry red color with full transparency. Despite standing for three days, had to leave 1/3 of the wine in the bottle when decanting to keep the 2/3 I decanted clear of any cloudiness or sediment. The nose on this is worth the price of admission, showing breadth and complexity that spans a panoply of red fruits, flowers, spices, and even has a hint of tea. The palate is leaner than the nose would suggest, but it does deliver a fraction of the nose's promise with primarily strawberry, cherry, sandalwood, and a hint of licorice that lead into a medium-long finish that has some tannin grip to it. I did not detect 2004 green elements, but have not calibrated my sensitivity to the green elements (I just avoided the vintage in the cellar). This bottle was a winner - performed to expectations. Delicious. Drink or hold.
