Wednesday, October 25, 2006 - Medium/deep ruby core, pale garnet rim.
Ripe plum and red berry fruit on the nose, well integrated creamy oak, some spice.
On the palate not much more than medium bodied, with ripe plum and red berry fruit and a savoury edge providing an attractive contrast to the sweet fruit. Decent intensity, fresh acidity and pleasantly chewy tannins which are perhaps just a little clumsy on the creamy vanilla finish.
Overall very good indeed, certainly drinking well now but on this showing has the structure and concentration to go at least another 3 years.
