95 Points

Sunday, January 25, 2004 - Tasted this while in Beaune at Henri Boillot's winery. While all of his 2002s are incredible, and much better than the 2001s (which are very good, but didn't blow me away for the prices), this stood out as one of the very best wines, while still being affordable. The only wines I rate higher are the Corton Charlemagne, and the Puligny Les Pucelles, both of which are bigger and more forward. My notes are:
"From 62 year old vines, the vineyard is located within Les Perrieres, and only 4 ha in size. Very spicy nose - exotic, anise, and warm vanilla pudding. Very sexy. Much leaner than the Corton-Charlemagne, with high acidity, well balanced by the fruit. Very long, rich, ripe baked pear finish."
