Saturday, January 28, 2012 - Decanted 3 hours; consumed over 8 hours. A softer, more delicate style that’s reminiscent of a light, Burgundian-styled, American pinot Noir from the Northwest. Hours 3- 5 show earth, smoke, and light barnyard notes upfront with some fruit in the distant background. Hour 5 sees a transition to a more balanced blending, as the earthy notes stay anchored and the fruit begins to emerge to take more of a shared front seat. Recommend drinking over that 3 to 6 hour window to see the transition. Good terrior expression, but it's more of a whisper than a shout. Drink ‘em now if you got ‘em, as this one seemed like it maybe getting a little light in the nose and getting a bit thin in the glass; likely at, or just slightly past its peak. Good deal at $50, and even a square deal at $75.
