95 Points

Friday, May 4, 2012 - Unbelievably good high end French sb from one of the (unfortunately late) masters of the trade from the upper Loire valley. This is in a handful of the best white wines I have had, along with the same producer's younger brother wine the Pur Sang. Highly stylistic, very dry, very pure, very clean and crisp and minerally, very well balanced and currently drinking very very well. Nose initially muted but opened up with aeration in the glass to reveal expressions of lemon grass, mango and a surprising floral note on the end. Primary flavors included abundant yet very dry and minerally tones of graphite, limestone, cut grass, lemon grass and warmer notes of pear / mango / peach on the mid - to - late palate. I absolutely recommend this wine but given the price point one cannot really pretend that this wine has a good QPR - at this price point one should expect real excellence and if this style of wine appeals to you then you will NOT be disappointed in this. 4 more bottles left....oh yeah!!!!
