It was dark purple in colour and offered blackberry, black cherry, raisins, clove, cinnamon and some leather on the nose. We had this 2007 Seghesio Zinfandel Old Vine next to the 2008 Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County. The wines were surprisingly similar in flavour profile. The 2007 Seghesio Zinfandel Old Vine contained the alcohol better and was the more serious, more elegant and longer-lived wine of the two, but the more candy-driven 2008 Seghesio Zinfandel Sonoma County was not outdistanced by the 2007 Seghesio Zinfandel Old Vine and might even be the slightly more delicious wine of the two at their current stages. 89+
