Friday, September 7, 2012 - Dark garnet/purple color. Nose: crushed blackberry, currant, and fig with accents of baking spices, roses, hot cinnamon candy, mocha, and bay leaf. Full body on the palate: blackberry, currant, and fig framed by black tea, mocha, licorice, peppercorn, bay leaf, and hot cinnamon candy. Medium acidity. Moderate fine-grain tannins. Lingering black tea, bay leaf, and blackberry skin on the long finish. Big and ripe with attractive herb/flower/earth counterpoints. Ideal for char-grilled meats. Drink over the next 4-5 years.
