Tuesday, October 9, 2012 - My final bottle. I admit, I wept. An under $20 stunner that opens with a full half hour of earthen funk. If earthen funk can be complex, then this had it, in spades. Slowly, very slowly it moved to sweet balsamic, drizzled over pomegranate and cherry fruit. Herbs and red licorice round out the dominant aromas. On the palate, this begins squarely in the medium-bodied, camp, and, in keeping with the nose, creeps its way toward full bodied, with fruits slowly overcoming acids. Tannins remain integrated and subtly in the background. Just the faintest touch of brett comes out at the one hour mark (only on the nose). Coats the mid-palate, finishes gently, but firmly. Lovely stuff here, I wish I had 3 cases. Faint raisin and plum notes emerge late in the game; suggestions of Amarone. Perfect.

Fruit bomb lovers, run away, lest your head explodes. Drink thru 2016, 13% abv
