Friday, March 18, 2005 - Dinner with Coffee Rubbed Ribeyes, Grilled Potatoes, Endive, Baby Bok Choy, and 01 MP 9 Shiraz (Issaquah, WA): This wine continues to settle down and become a good drink. The nose is fainter than before (I gave it less air this time. It really seems to need 3-4 hours.). It shows chocolate, smoke, ripe blackberry, and only a hint of heat. The palate seems less dense than before but better balanced. I find flavors that match the nose. The most memorable part is the initial rush of sweet, smoke blackberries. This wine may lack a bit in finesse, but it makes up for it in power and purity of fruit.
