Wednesday, April 24, 2013 - We are just getting into Barolo, so don't have a lot of experience. But I found a lot to like in this. Nice cherry fruit with a variety of other savory nuances including tar, licorice, leather, and some herbal notes. Not very fruit forward, but really like the balance of acidity and earth with the fruit. The tannins here are pretty aggressive and pretty drying, and that is the only downside. But we are certainly drinking this too young, and I would hope that the tannins would soften a bit. Indeed, they did soften some after a couple of hours in the decanter so that is a good sign. Good value around $40.
