Tasted next to other Barolos, which were substantially younger. This one showed a surprisingly dark red color—aromas of cherry, tar, leather, herbs, and mushrooms. Medium+ body! Mellowed tannins at this age and ample acidity keep it fresh. I was surprised by how easy this was to drink.

Luis is MIA Again (Broder's Pasta Bar, Minneapolis): Dark red plus color. PNP, drank a glass over 90 minutes. Darker fruits on the nose; more cassis and black cherry, roasted meat, oak, umami, firm somewhat angular tannins still. This wants some more time I think. 90+ to 91pts.

Having fun with my Coravin tonight for NYE. In attendance are a couple of Barolos, Brunellos and an old Bordeaux. Not sure if I’ll get through them all... because I SERIOUSLY want to open this bottle of Renato Ratti and quaff it all! It’s DE.LI.CIOUS!!! Roses are prominent on the nose. Flavor is smooooth and well balanced. Still very bold notes so this wine can hold well for the next 3 to 5 years. Wow!

Decanted 6.5 hours before taking over to our neighbors' house for a vegan bolognese dinner. A dark ruby extending out to an orange rim, the nose beckons with dark cherry, licorice, rose petal, nutmeg and a touch of earthy leather. Very good typicity, even if there are larger examples out there. Medium+ in intensity and concentration, nearly full-bodied with well-integrated tannins and a long, satisfying finish. This was an excellent pairing for the dish, and my neighbors really enjoyed it! BINGO!

Gift a friend brought over for NYE. Did not decant, PNP - and loved it from start to finish - very dry and well put together - savoury notes of cheese and complex, long aftertaste. I really enjoyed this and will seek it out further.

Nose: The nose is aromatic and balanced with red cherries, raspberries, licorice, red currants, roast herbs, juniper berries, leather, some tobacco, and a touch of dust. There is excellent depth with the nose showing some maturing, but still showing off a lot of youth.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with high acidity and high tannins. The structure is still noticeable, but well integrated. The feel shows a sense of refinement with red cherries, raspberries, licorice, juniper berries, leather, and tobacco notes.
Overall: This is at the beginning of its window. There is a lot of freshness to the fruit, but it is lacking tertiary development. This saw about 3 hours of air before drinking and it was then showing beautifully.

Decanted and found no solids. Lots of cherry and spice on the nose with a hint of alcohol. Initially, just a bit tannic, but with delicious cherry, spice, and hint of mushroom. After resting in the decanter, the rough edges and slight bit of alcohol nose disappeared. For the price, this was a bargain. Lots of life left in this wine.

A very nice Barolo indeed! A more elegant style of Barolo if such a thing is possible. On the nose the wine is a power of aromas of dark fruit married to licorice and cocoa. There is subtle earthiness to the character that quite attractive. In the mouth, the wine is very well balanced and smooth to drink. Acidity and tannins remain dominate however and another 5 to 10 years of ageing will tone the hardness down. For those that prefer their wine bold and powerful drink now!
Verkligen min stil. Önskar att jag köpt på mig mer.

We are just getting into Barolo, so don't have a lot of experience. But I found a lot to like in this. Nice cherry fruit with a variety of other savory nuances including tar, licorice, leather, and some herbal notes. Not very fruit forward, but really like the balance of acidity and earth with the fruit. The tannins here are pretty aggressive and pretty drying, and that is the only downside. But we are certainly drinking this too young, and I would hope that the tannins would soften a bit. Indeed, they did soften some after a couple of hours in the decanter so that is a good sign. Good value around $40.

A fantastic bottle, elegant, complex and full of energy. It delivers beautiful aromas of fresh ripe strawberries, tar, smoke, licorice, chocolate and hints of cedar dust. Popped and poured, tasted double blind. This would have needed a decant. Initially quite reticent on the nose, but after a couple of hours opened up to show beautiful rose petals, lingonberries, meaty tones. The palate was dominated by tannins, but had an elegant feel to it, cranberry, a bit of earth. This was a very nice wine, which definitely needs more time in the cellar.

Awful on day 1, but late day 2 the licorice has faded considerably and a soft, light and slightly elegant wine is emerging. This is not by any means a big barolo, however, at this pricepoint it is highly recommendable as a typical example of a modern wine from this district.

5/5

Garnet in color, lighter density. Some cherry and flower notes on the nose. On the palate, I loved the tang, brightnesss and acidity. Very nice red fruits.

tough and tight but opens to candies sweetness. Monolithic. This wine is build to age. Powerful acids. Goes for over a minute and builds.

Verkligen min stil. Önskar att jag köpt på mig mer.

Great Wines of Italy Tasting (Baroli) (NYC): Very open, enticing nose now. Bit sour, acidic; the body is soft and approachable. For a near term drinking.

NOSE: Perfume/ alcohol, a bit of tar, a bit of wood
TASTE: Acid forward, fruits are more in the background, firm tannins, a hint of wood, liquirice, elegant.
Doesnt hurt to drink now but acids and tannins will be better balanced with fruit in the future.

Quite big aroma for a Barolo the tannins are strong but nicely balanced. Will probably develop to a fantastic wine with some time

A fantastic bottle, elegant, complex and full of energy. It delivers beautiful aromas of fresh ripe strawberries, tar, smoke, licorice, chocolate and hints of cedar dust. Pure, focused and balanced with amazing freshness and a gorgeous silky texture. The finish is long and pretty, filled with ripe juicy fruits.

Transparent ruby color. Nose of cassis, liquorice, and iodine. Powerful on the palate; fantastic length with expressive tannins and great warmth.

Awful on day 1, but late day 2 the licorice has faded considerably and a soft, light and slightly elegant wine is emerging.
This is not by any means a big barolo, however, at this pricepoint it is highly recommendable as a typical example of a modern wine from this district.

Similar to my notes on the 2006, but with a bit more lift/acidity and less tannin. A great entry level barolo from a fairly traditional producer. 14%.

I feel its a little bit under the 2007 vintage, but still very good.
Les mushroomy, but overall good complexity.
