Saturday, May 5, 2007 - I am no expert on Burgundy, but damn if this isn't exceptional. After a half-hour in the decanter, the wine yielded a nose full of rich, spicy, caramely forest floor and red and black cherry. Just plain seductive, with the caramel especially just inviting you in. On the palate, smooth, smooth, smooth with a body that meets the richness of the nose. Some red cherry, some black cherry, some pomegranate, maybe some orange rind. You think the wine peaks on your tongue, and then low and behold, it just takes it up a notch with this intense explosion of purity--everything you've just tasted--only refined to another level with an almost laser-like focus and finish. I know this isn't your ordinary Villages level wine, but OMG, this is good.
