Wednesday, January 1, 2014 - Double decanted and their seemed to be a good amount of sediment in the bottle. It had been over a week without wine, so the nose and palate were primed for this bottle. Lovely scent of smokey red fruits with dark plums, violets and oak spices coming off the glass. deep and dark, opaque with clearing brackishness towards the rim. Tannins and oak have completely integrated. Pleasant mouthfeel that coats and yet has the perky acid to keep this older wine fresh. A testament to this vintage. Leather and tobacco are the more prominent tertiary aromas and flavors along with that smoky rubber reminiscent of a drag strip, without the petrol. Great wine from a producer thats just not on everybody's radar. A steal when you look at the prices of Pessac today. Only thing close is Le Thil Clary Rouge.
