2000 Château Haut-Bergey

Friday, May 9, 2014 - wonderfully vibrant and fresh. Needed a little breathing, but then opened up into a lush wine with outstanding fruit; some tobacco and leather notes. Very smooth and full bodied despite the low alcohol (12.5%) content. Something I wish other chateaux could emulate. I confess I never heard of this wine before but this was a terrific bottle.

5/9/2014 9:49:00 PM - This is the best value chateaux in the entire Pessac. Followed by Le Thil Clary. If you can grab back vintages fill it up with 2005 as not much 2000 out there, though an outstanding wine. I have about 6 from 2008-2010 and a few scattered from 2005, 2006 as well. Its not sub $20US any longer but around $25-$30US. It can easily go 15+ years in any given vintage and always pleasing.
