Friday, May 30, 2014 - From a .375. Powerful dark, brooding nose dominated by "roasted" (but not oaky) notes and curiously, loads of lead pencil. Really captivating nose and very primary dark fruit (no puppy fat opulence so typical of young wines of the vintage, but then again, this is no longer "young"), not an elegant wine but well balanced. Really came together in the glass over the next hour or so without deteriorating (despite my vigorous swirling) in quality, this appears to have a long future ahead.
