Wednesday, June 11, 2014 - Big powerful nose, packed with cassis, cedar and a little tarry-ness. Again a touch of the volatility seen on some of the other wines. Really fully flavoured with leafy blackcurrant fruit, spicy cedar and a little charcoal note. Lovely grip from the very fine ripe tannins and a lovely savoury edge to the fruit. Served blind and we were all trying to pick the grape variety. For me it was a Cab Franc. Everyone was extremely surprised when we found out it was 75% Merlot 25% Sangiovese.
