Friday, August 1, 2014 - Drinking awesome after a 3-hour decant. Paired with filet, grilled potatoes, and mixed arugula salad. Dark, cloudy, crimson color with purple hues, throwing tons of sediment. Musty nose brings a burst of sharp, ripe raspberries, some strawberries, mocha, caramel, cherry menthol, sweet tobacco, and notes of mint and eucalyptus. The palate is medium-to-full, very supple and gritty, bringing ripe cherries, more raspberries, red hard candy, hints of blackberries, herbs, leather, milk chocolate, and ends with chocolate cherries, cinnamon, and rhubarb flowing into a smooth, delicate finish. Tannins fading but still firm. The acidity is still strong and potent, along with the red fruit. Drink now-2021.
