Saturday, August 9, 2014 - At $7 a pop, this is one to buy by the case; make that two cases. I'm unsure of how successful 2012 was in the CdR, but it must have been pretty good if this humble offering is any indication. Very deep and dark in the glass with substantial legs. First whiff is smokey, with sweetened cranberries and red raspberries, which follows through to the finish. Some peachy and stoney notes peek in and out, as well.

Granted, I tend to get poetic in my scoring when I find something worthwhile in the under-$10 range; others might score this a notch or two lower. But this has nice stuffins. If I owned a restaurant I'd lose the Kirkland bottles and serve en carafe as my house wine. Will please both the Francophile and Californophile. Enjoy through 2015 to capture the luscious fruit.
