Saturday, October 4, 2014 - Different than few years ago. Less red fruit and tannin. Clearer now, resolved and sweet fruit, some brown sugar or sweet date notes. A little bit of green fern and moss in the nose which is pleasant. Raspberry or strawberry jam fruit picking up over light damp earth, sweet finish. Heat not so bad, but serve cooler to mitigate. The acidity and tannin are not very prominent. For food it needs something simpler and gentler, or drink on its own. It worked with brie. Could see it w simple white chicken or salmon with a glaze. Last bottle. If I had another, I’d let it evolve further. Good quaff now though.
