Different than few years ago. Less red fruit and tannin. Clearer now, resolved and sweet fruit, some brown sugar or sweet date notes. A little bit of green fern and moss in the nose which is pleasant. Raspberry or strawberry jam fruit picking up over light damp earth, sweet finish. Heat not so bad, but serve cooler to mitigate. The acidity and tannin are not very prominent. For food it needs something simpler and gentler, or drink on its own. It worked with brie. Could see it w simple white chicken or salmon with a glaze. Last bottle. If I had another, I’d let it evolve further. Good quaff now though.

After the vertical a few months ago, I pulled my last bottle of 2006 Dundee Hills out of a box in the back of the cellar to consume as soon as possible. This bottle performed very well. The vertical tasting really showed off this wine's imperfections, however consumed on it's own they are not so apparent. The Dundee Hills terroir shows through initially while the fruit is on the dark, rich, and jammy side. Tannins are very light and the acidity is just enough. There is some alcohol on the finish like previously mentioned. Better on it's own then with food due to the alcohol. Drinking a bit past prime in my opinion, but still holding tough. Consumed over two days, good as both a PnP and on day 2.

My first and only bottle of this wine, I was fairly impressed. Medium to dark garnet, earthy initial nose that gave way to a more typical Oregon Pinot Noir fruity notes. As it lingers you get vanilla, sour cherry and a little lavender. It definitely has an alcohol element too. Moderately rich mouthfeel. Relatively smooth yet flavorful. It definitely grows on you. It went well with a steak. At the three hour point it seemed to just shut down. All in all a very nice bottle of wine.

Tasted in 2001-2011 vertical: I can say what was one of my favorite wines early in my wine hobby has fallen out of favor with me. Perhaps it was other great wines in this line-up, but the imperfections of this wine really stuck out this time. The nose was really dark, showing almost port-ish dark fig, prune and old blackberry fruit. Rich palate initially, jammy blackberry fruit, good earthy terroir in the mid-palate but the high alcohol of this wine overtakes the finish, showing a lot of boozy heat which closes off the finish and wrecks any sense of balance. Sad. I'd be interested to have this wine alone some night as these sort of tastings really make obvious the good and bad qualities of wines, but today this wasn't doing well. My least favorite of the vertical, also my last bottle of nearly 4 cases of this wine I had purchased and consumed over the years.
- Medium forming legs and aromas of cloves. It's balanced and has flavours of black pepper, cloves and strawberry with a medium body. Fleshy texture with a medium finish - Earthy flavor on the palate with black cherry. This is a smooth full flavored Pinot drinking perfectly now.

Really happy with this last evening. Quick 30 minute decant then enjoyed over the next couple of hours. Inviting nose with some darker fruit against some dust and really pleasant floral notes. It's light on the palate, mixing rich, not tart, raspberries against some caramel notes and spice - it lingers nicely. This is drinking very well right now and we'll probably drink our last bottle within the next six months or so.

The back label says they're trying to make old-world pinot noir, and I think they're successful with this intention. Garnet color with some light browning towards the edges. Nose of primarily smoke and soil, along with some red and black fruit. Palate of red fruit, and with good acidity, medium body, and pretty good length, and a bit of spice on the back end. Pretty solid juice; we enjoyed it. Paired well with pork chops tonight.

Popped and poured and said "Solid 90 points leaning towards 91". Very nice fruit on the nose... clean and crisp with earth and a touch of spice. Light body and light purple in color. Taste is of a great Oregon Pinot.... solid cherry but not over powering, a nice integration of cherry, strawberry, mineral/earth and spice onthe finish. May do well over the next year.

This wine was still singing for me. Just as good as the last bottle I had 6 months ago. Medium cherry red. Nose of black cherry, raspberry, vanilla, spice, and barnyard. Deep, rich red fruit and earthy spice on the palate balanced by nice acidity and great structure. Burgundian and New World at the same time. Love this.

Hmm. Either this is starting to enter a dumb phase or the fruit is starting to wane, leaving a somewhat odd structure due to the vintage. There is light alcohol detected on the finish that comes off a little bitter. The longer this has been open, the more expressive the fruit becomes. Possibly bottle variation, possibly age? I'm leaving half of the bottle overnight to see if it improves tomorrow, based on previous experience it should. Day 2 showed more open fruit, a more balanced structure and palate, and just came off more delicious. I'll leave the score at 89, dunno whether to save my remaining bottles or drink up? I guess I'll just save them with my fingers crossed.

2006 De Ponte Cellars Pinot Noir- Leaves, earth, but no offensive funk on the nose. The nose also contains a raspberry and cherry relationship which meet each other and then divorce immediately. Scott Paul and De Ponte: On the nose, soft, like water running through a sprinkler in the summer. There's also some bigger, pleasing fruits. Nice and soft palate with big fruits. Pleasing finish, with no faults, but nothing really stands out either. Some light tannins at the end, but basically ready to drink.

Fall Release Party at De Ponte Cellars (De Ponte Cellars, Dundee OR): Deep rich blackberry and cranberry scents appear on the nose along with something that reminds me of a baked pie crust. Beautiful and pure from start to finish. There is only the slightest touch of alcohol on the finish, more gentle than 90% of the 2006 Oregon wines I have had. Besides that, this wine is drinking really well right now. Great right out of the bottle, on day two this has gained some spice notes and the acidity has risen, but only slightly. I prefer it on day one as it is much more gentle with just a couple hours air.

My QPR king of 2006. Ripe raspberry, caramel nose with some of the "barnyard funk" that traditional Oregon Pinot Noirs have. The body and mouthfeel of this wine is so silky, near perfect in my opinion. You get a nice bouquet of ripe berries along with a nice acidity that is so delicate it is almost sweet flavored in itself. This is not a "fruit bomb" though, the flavors are toned and integrated well. The finish is nice and lengthy for a wine at this price point. The oak is there but is integrated into the flavors perfectly. One thing that makes this wine nice as well is that it is great right out of the bottle so it's a great candidate to take to dinner as you really don't need to decant it. I've purchased over 3 cases of this wine so far this year and each time I open one for either in-experienced friends or knowledgable wine drinkers it is always one of the first to get finished. I think it stands up to bottles in the 40-50$ price range. I have had single bottles that were either a little on the boozy side or slightly tart, but they open up when decanted. I think this wine is drinking very well now, although I have had every vintage of this wine and they are all drinking good as well so this should drink great for another 5 years at least.

Rich garnet and ruby in color. Rose petals, violets and toasted oak on the nose. Falvors of plum, black cherry, raspberry and chocolate. Silky, balanced tannins. Surprise of the night. Very complex and flavorful compared to some much more expensive wines. Stood out from the rest.
