Wednesday, December 31, 2014 - 2nd Lagrein wine for me, the other being an unimpressive cheaper, tarter, and lighter Elena Walch. This wine never gave up much on the nose over 3 days and much coaxing. Palate of sour cherry, faint licorice, plum, mud. Gained traction over time. This would be lovely with cured or pickled meats, or maybe blended with an expressive Pinot Noir. Can Lagrein be great? This showing gets a 88-89 (?).
