Monday, April 21, 2014 - Tasted blind. Clear, garnet in color, with hints of brown, the legs are viscous and there is some sediment. The nose is clean and shows sour cherry, tomato, leafy forest floor and some oak influence. The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, tannins and alcohol (14.5%). This wine is medium (+) to full bodied , with medium (+) flavor intensity and length. I would have guessed it to be a younger Chianti Classico, so I was somewhat surprised to see that it was actually an older Taurasi. This is an impressively age-worthy wine. Drink now or through 2020.
