Saturday, January 24, 2015 - Inky color and flavor. After being open for 2 hours the flavors slowly begin to reveal themselves. Better after 3 hours. On the nose, an old world must with a little earthiness. Went wonderfully well with a porcini risotto. On the palate, sage, crushed rose petals, violets, and ripe black fruits. Fleshy fruit without being overly jammy. Really well balanced. The tannins are firm but well integrated. Pencil lead and graphite almost reminiscent of a Lafite. A beautiful, balanced wine blending the best of old world standards and new world lusciousness.
