Has a bit of a funky/rustic nose at this stage and we feel it needs time to shed that off. In an in between stage of its life, soft earthy and herby but also a bit out of place and lacks the elegance of both younger and older bottles and thus we suggest one let’s this age more. 90-91 for now but we have hope for it

Tuscany WIMPS 2023 (La Trompette): Firstly i'd say the drinking range on CT stopping at 2023 is wrong - this can age a lot more. Beautiful nose of dark fruit and modest oak spice. Palate consistent with the nose with deep dark fruit, some toastiness (but not sweetness) and good acidity. Good balance and improved with air.

A very dark colour. The wine has a lot of sediment and a deep, rich, spicy flavour, with slightly burnt fruit and a somewhat earthy texture. It also has good acidity and should keep well and continue to develop. Excellent stuff.

Terrific wine drinking at peak maturity, IMO. I've followed this over the years and decided to open my final bottle now, on the belief it won't improve with even more age. It greatly outshined the top bottlings of two expensive Napa producers on this evening. I'm a giant fan of this wine and consider it one of the world's very best Bordeaux blends at the $150 price point.

This is outstanding this evening. Tertiary notes in bloom, acidity still there and enough tannin to clear the palate. Everything in balance. Served blind and the consensus was a 1990s first growth BDX. Truly delish with excellent balance and interesting layers.
I got everything from balsamic to strawberries to cherries and leather and herbs from this.
Served at 55 with a slow braised bavette with red lentils and leeks.
This punches way above its price point!
I think this has at least another five years of joy to give. Shame I only have one more bottle after this.

Very enjoyable sans food. Quite full bodied and manifestly a young wine in terms of its drinking window. I’m always impressed by their wines. Not to resort to comparing Italian Super Tuscans to Bordeaux, as I think the peer group is broad enough to avoid this, but you’d be hard pressed to find fault if you had this alongside a majority of classed growths ..... In fact, it embraces its structure in a way that’s reassuring - a big wine comfortable in its clothes. Good balance, palate is nice indeed, smoky, a touch of mint, sophisticated.....

Elegant wine with great balance. No rough edges at all. Still a lot of primary fruit, blueberry and cherry, with a little floral hint. No noticeable oak. Everything blends seamlessly together. Would expect some secondary development at this stage but it is not there.

A very concentrated, spicy, cabernet sauvignon and petit verdot blend from Tuscany. Still vigorous and youthful, intense and very long. An excellent wine, approachable now but with a long life ahead. Perhaps best to wait a year or two before trying again.

Opened and let breathe in the bottle for 2 hours. Drank over the next 3 hours. This is in a really nice spot right now. Tannin is well integrated. Good acidity to keep it in balance. These should drink well for another 10+ years.

Medium deep colour, some browning; deep and mature nose, spices, lovage, not a lot of fruit; lots of acidity though on the palate, cocoa, some black fruit, gravel and tar, firm tannic backbone is there but not really to the fore; complete finish, good length.

Still a bit young and needs decanting and time to open. Quite closed when first sipped, at first it only revealed a tight but somewhat indistinguishable core of various red fruits with a soft overlay of saddle leather and damp cellar. However, over the course of the evening it slowly began to reveal more and more as the layers of fruit peeled back like rose petals unfurling. As each one could be tasted, more emerged beneath, with the more dominant ones like cassis, ink, and blackberry slowly giving way to violets and crushed rose petals.

Inky color and flavor. After being open for 2 hours the flavors slowly begin to reveal themselves. Better after 3 hours. On the nose, an old world must with a little earthiness. Went wonderfully well with a porcini risotto. On the palate, sage, crushed rose petals, violets, and ripe black fruits. Fleshy fruit without being overly jammy. Really well balanced. The tannins are firm but well integrated. Pencil lead and graphite almost reminiscent of a Lafite. A beautiful, balanced wine blending the best of old world standards and new world lusciousness.

The least good wine in tonight’s blind tasting. Up against some rather tuff competition, and would perhaps have done better by its own? Nose with alcohol, herbs, new oak, oak shavings, vanilla and oak spices. Rather brutally oak treated. On the palate this shows very high alcohol, and ruff & harsh tannins, with oak bitterness and vanilla in combination with some underlying thin and sweeter fruit. This is way too young to drink now, and very hard to read where it might end up down the road. Should be better I would guess? Points given for tonight’s performance. (86 - 88)

Two bottles in a restaurant, early 2014: "power" decanted; deep black ink; complex bouquet: cherry, cassis, blackberry, strawberry, tar, walnut, fresh leather, horse, pepper; red fruits in the mouth; full body; smooth and refreshing texture; silky tannins; extremely smooth, long finish.
First bottle was near perfection: 99 points. Second bottle: 96 points. Gives 97 points as average value.
