Saturday, January 24, 2015 - WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Deep ruby colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Youthful, showing Medium intensity primary aromas of red cherry, red plum, cranberry, raspberry, black pepper, bit of a herbal note and secondary aromas of smoke.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a Medium(+) level of acidity. It has Medium(+) Ripe/Soft tannins and a Medium Level of alcohol (12.50%). It has Medium body and Medium intensity primary flavours of red cherry, red plum, cranberry, raspberry, black pepper and secondary flavours of smoke. The finish is Medium(-). Simple fresh fruit character
Overall: Good balance between acidity, alcohol, and tannins. Acidity and tannins are both well integated; nothing sticks out. Lacks concentration, length and complexity. This has a simple fresh fruit character.
Conclusion: It is a Good quality wine. Drink Now; not suitable for Ageing or Further Ageing This lacks the structure for ageing.This has a simple fresh fruit character which will fade with ageing ; Inexpensive (£5.69)
