Tuesday, May 26, 2015 - Opaque crimson color. Subdued nose of graphite, tar and black fruit. The palate on this is also restrained, remaining quite primary. This had a somewhat bitter finish when first opened, though this dissipated with a little bit of aeration. The tannins are still tough, retaining a spicy bite. I had hoped that the Merlot would have made this accessible by its fifth birthday, but it is still wrapped up tight. Would be interested to revisit this in 5-10 years.
