Wednesday, November 4, 2015 - Bringing Napa back to Napa, I carried this magnificent wine from NY after receiving it from the Tognis more than a decade ago, to share with friends at Tra Vigne in St Helena together with the wine maker from a major local winery, and knew I had to bring a very good bottle. The Togni was the WOTN, altho the other was excellent too. The Togni is dark, compelling, complex, viscous, evolved, with a more than a minute finish. This might be the best 2001 from Napa we have had. Particularly given Philip's maintenance of a reasonable price, while calling this wine a value sounds odd, surely for the money, there may be no better wine from Northern California from 2001 at least.
