Saturday, March 19, 2016 - Dinner at Patrick's place (Patrick and Tanya's place): Decanted and poured immediately. Served blind. This bottle had been cliniced in 1998. Bricking colour. Tertiary aromas - old leather, earthy, cloves. The palate is a disappointment. Seems faded and beyond its use by date. No fruit to speak of, some vegetal characters, weak finish. It was a surprise when the label was revealed. 1972 is thought to be a good vintage, but maybe the best years are behind it. 90% Shiraz, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon.
